Professor Emeritus Stephen Adjei; an educationalist and former Rector of GIMPA has revealed that teachers should be ready to forfeit 50% of their salaries if they decide to stay home when schools reopen.
Teacher organizations and unions have expressed their dissatisfaction concerning the resumption of school activities amidst Covid19 by deciding to stay home if school reopens now. This statement has been supported by many organizations since the life of both students and teachers will be at risk if school reopens now.
According to Prof. Adjei, this stance taken by teachers is a sign of their irresponsibility since teachers and all public workers are not entitled to their salaries when they do not work.
In light of this, he opined that teachers should get ready to forfeit half of their salaries if they decided to stay home even when school reopens.
