The president of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended the lockdown in Greater Accra and Kumasi by one more week at the end of which evaluation might lead to further extension.
Speaking to the country last night in his 6th COVID-19 address, he revealed the extension of the existing lockdown. The need for this arising from the increase in the number of affected persons to a total of 378. The week-long extension comes with three months of free electricity and water taking effect this April.
Households who consume between 0 to 50 kilowatts – an hour a month will have their bill catered for and those in residential areas and commercial users will get 50% off their bill.
The President said this action is part of the measures in place to reduce the impact of the outbreak on the public. He also advised “all Ghanaians to exercise discipline in their use of water and electricity” during these times.
As of this report, Ghana’s Coronavirus case stands at 378.
