The Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has revealed that the Ghana Education Service is reviewing its policy on the use of electronic gadgets in schools.
The GES currently has a policy that bans the use of electronic gadgets like mobile phones in schools. This policy is currently being reviewed as the advent of online learning during the lockdown has revealed the disadvantages of the policy.
The minister revealed that new policies such as the “bring your own device” are being taken into consideration. These new policies put into action will allow students to bring their own laptops and smartphones to school to aid in the learning process.
He also acknowledged that the world has shifted to a more technological approach to education and Ghana will also do well to be in-line with this global shift.
